What could be the reason(s) for the unexpected outcome of the systematic review? It is generally accepted that sealants should be placed in high-caries risk pits and fissures of children with a high-caries risk at mouth level. This treatment should be supported by proper oral hygiene measures performed by the child and/or parents.
